By using SynapsesOS software or visiting this website, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the software or website.

The Software

SynapsesOS is open-source software released under the MIT License. The full license text is available at github.com/SynapsesOS/synapses/blob/main/LICENSE.

No Warranty

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT.

In plain language: SynapsesOS is provided as-is. We make no promises that it will work perfectly, be bug-free, or be suitable for any particular purpose. You use it at your own risk.

Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.

In plain language: If something goes wrong — data loss, bugs, crashes, security issues — the SynapsesOS authors are not liable. This includes but is not limited to:

• Loss of data or code
• Corruption of your codebase or project files
• Security vulnerabilities in the software
• Incompatibility with your tools, systems, or workflows
• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

Your Responsibilities

• Backups — You are responsible for maintaining backups of your code and data. SynapsesOS modifies files on your filesystem (e.g., .claude/CLAUDE.md, synapses.json). Back up your work.
• Security — SynapsesOS runs locally with filesystem access. You are responsible for the security of your machine and any data SynapsesOS processes.
• Compliance — You are responsible for ensuring your use of SynapsesOS complies with applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.

Data Sovereignty

All data processed by SynapsesOS stays on your machine. We have no access to your data, no ability to recover it, and no obligation to store or protect it. You own your data completely.

Contributions

By contributing code, documentation, or other materials to SynapsesOS repositories, you agree that your contributions are licensed under the same MIT License as the project.

Third-Party Software

SynapsesOS may integrate with third-party software (Ollama, AI agents, editors). We are not responsible for the behavior, availability, or terms of third-party software.

Website

The synapsesos.com website is provided for informational purposes. We make reasonable efforts to keep content accurate but make no guarantees. Links to external sites are provided for convenience; we don't control or endorse external content.

Changes

We may update these terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted to this page. Continued use of the software or website after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the jurisdiction where the project maintainer resides.
